Free Photo Scans (and Happy Hour!)

October 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Digitize Your Old Pics for Posterity!

Who doesn’t have at least one box of old photos in the dark corner of a closet or basement somewhere? Let us turn those fading memories into digital artifacts you can share online — and preserve for future generations.

We’re seeking neighborhood photos from the 60’s thru the early 80’s, when Gtown was its own little city hub for NW Philly. Everyone who was anyone shopped, dined & danced here – including Fallsers who came by droves for department stores like Allens, Rowell’s — even a Woolworth. Let’s see the cars, the hair, the fashions, the vibe!

Get in the spirit with Gloria Blair’s swinging spread from her Disco Days in Germantown and North Philly. Then come out October 10th for the full show — over 100 photos and rare newspaper clippings bring to life the joy and freedom of another time, not all that long ago….

Bring your best photos, we’ll scan them for free and email them to you for posterity. If you’d like, we can even add them to Gloria’s slideshow as it plays this special night in Historic Germantown. Oh yeah — we’ll also have food & drink, plus a great playlist of all the best songs from this era.

Thursday October 10th  (6:30 – 8:30 pm)
Free high-def scans emailed to you on the spot (restoration too).
Digital images will be donated to the archives at Historic Germantown, to help document a special time in our community’s history. Music and refreshments. All welcome. FREE.

FEATURING images from Germantown: In Black & White, a moody exhibit that captures 4 weeks this summer in B&W images, thru the eyes of college interns experiencing the neighborhood for the first time.
