Bike for a buck! Cycle for a single! Whatever you wanna call it, this year’s bike raffle could score you a sweet Fuji bike and help get East Falls a river landing.
Last year’s bike raffle helped fund the bike race block party. This year, the raffle could get us into the river! Thanks everyone who bought a ticket — WE HAVE A WINNER.
Please enjoy this *RIVETING* video of Steve and Gina Snyder selecting the winner at her desk via RaffleRiver.
East Falls has a beautiful view from the river. But for a long time, it’s one that only a handful of college rowers, dragon boaters, and members of the Philly Canoe Club could enjoy.
What about the rest of us? If you wanted to drop a boat into the river, you’d have to haul it down to Boathouse Row.
This year’s bike raffle could change that — proceeds will help fund a landing right here in the Falls.
The hard part’s already done — the East Falls Development Corporation (EFDC) lobbied for a boat landing for years (at a site just north of the Falls Bridge) and finally got approval last year from the East Park Coalition (part of the Fairmount Park Conservancy). It’s scheduled to be built in the next year or two, but we might be able to speed things up by emailing our thanks to the Conservancy (or generally bugging them about the timetable).
So let’s get ourselves a sweet boat launch — and maybe win a Fuji bike for a buck while we’re at it.
Hurry — the drawing is July 29th!
