Cheers for groups like Tree Tenders and Friends of McMichael and Inn Yark Park who keep our public green spaces beautiful all year round. This weekend, volunteers needed for plantings, clean-ups and winterizing.
This autumn has been good to East Falls parks. Of course, Inn Yard Park shined during Fall Fest, and last Saturday, McMichael Park hosted a “TreePhilly” giveaway, where almost 400 trees were given FREE to 221 local homeowners — making this the biggest Philly tree giveaway ever!
October 7th, East Falls volunteers joined forces with TreePhilly, PHS, Phila Parks & Recreation, Tree Keepers — even students from U of P’s Wharton School came down for a day of outdoorsy community fun & education.
Tutorials on planting, pruning, and watering were accompanied by cider and cookies for a great day of fresh air and networking! Check out more great pics at TreePhilly’s Flickr account. This event marked the 25th Anniversary of Friends of McMichael Park, as well as the 20th for East Falls Tree Tenders. Congrats, guys!
Speaking of parks: this weekend, both of our beloved parks will be holding community clean-ups:
MCMICHAEL PARK: Saturday November 14th from 9 am to noon. Volunteers needed to plant trees and bulbs, and also general clean-up. Please bring rakes, shovels, clippers, gloves, etc.
INN YARD PARK: Sunday November 15th from noon to 2 pm. All welcome to help plant bulbs, rake leaves, pick up trash, and otherwise prepare park for the winter. Tools provided.
Come on out for a great day of sunshine, exercise, and neighborly cooperation.

Thanks for the nice article and great photos of McMichael Park. Appreciate the shout out for volunteers for our Love Your Park, on November 14th, 2015. Always a fun day surrounded by green space in our City of Arborly Love.
How could I not love this!
We had a great turn out at Inn Yard Park! For the first time we got the whole park raked, 200 bulbs planted, leaves blown out of the playground and the curb on Ridge Ave cleaned. Thanks to all the families and individuals who showed up to make our little park beautiful!
