On the Good Foot

Philly really stepped up this election

Whew! Election bullet dodged – no gangs of armed Trumpers or their self-deputized “election monitors.” Just a fantastic street party covered by journalists from all over the world. So proud of our city!

But let’s take a moment to recognize the many wonderful acts of community spirit and kindness that happened all over our town. So many stories of volunteers giving out snacks and musicians playing while people waited in long lines to vote. (Shout out to The Local’s Sheena Thompson for distributing treat bags at local polling places in and around Germantown!)

AME Church members

Speaking of doing Philly proud, members of The James Varick A.M.E. Zion Church (2001 Reed St.) came together on election day to give away food, water, masks and sanitizer provided by Reverend Damon Carver.

Closer to home, volunteers from several organizations welcomed voters to the polls at MLK high school with treats, music, and good food.

As the old saying goes, good things happen in Philly!

Special thanks to our citywide correspondent Lenora Gaillard for the great pics!
