Philly’s Top Farmers’ Market? I think so!

I may be biased, but my opinion about The East Falls Farmers’ Market (EFFM) being the best farmers’ market within city limits comes fully backed by facts. If you’ve never been to the market, my hope is that you’ll take some time on any Saturday during the year (yep, it’s a year-round market!) to check us out.

Operating weekly all year is no easy task for a market that’s completely staffed by local volunteers, but this market gets the job done. The market features fresh local produce, locally and ethically raised meats, artisanal breads, craft beers, farm-fresh dairy, fine spirits, quality craft items, live music and much, much more. We also have some serious community vibes AND your pup is not only welcomed, it’s totally encouraged. Did you know that many markets do not allow pets? (Lame, lame, lame-o)

Housed under the Twin Bridge of East Falls, right across from Kelly Drive, you can enjoy the market’s regular season (May-November) hours of 10AM-2PM.  As for the winter season, the market operates on a shortened two-hour period (which is still TBD for this winter). You can keep up on the latest, and other helpful info about our vendors, via the EFFM social media pages (FB and IG) and on their website eastfallsfarmersmarket.com.

Fear not though – winter hours do not mean that the fun and festivities stop! In fact, there’s an East Falls Winter Market which will be held at the EFFM this year over several weekends in December! These dates are TBD as well, because – just between you and me – I’m spilling secrets to hook you up with the low-down. You can say proudly that you’ve heard it here first.

I also know that the Winter Market is now accepting craft vendor applications!! Are you an artist? Looking to be a vendor? Wanna get in on this Winter Market action? Email me at Justine.EatsTheWorld@gmail.com and I’ll get you started. First time vendors, as well as seasoned vendors, are welcomed. EFFM prides itself on supporting, encouraging and uplifting those just starting out as vendors. That’s right, EFFM really cares about neighbors, community and vendors.

One last argument for EFFM as best in Philly (like you needed more?) is their upcoming annual Turkey Day Raffle! Held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, every market attendee may purchase as many tickets as they’d like for a chance to win a full Thanksgiving Day meal with produce and meats by our vendors!

Hope to see you soon!

Big thanks to David Dettmann & Julia Margulies for all the hard work they have done for the market, and the leadership they’ve provided that’s allowed it to become the fabulous resource it is today.
